Brickpit Ring Walk

Scott Bartlett Walking the Ring at the Brick Pit: History and Views from Above The walk around the elevated ring at the Brick Pit offers a unique and surprisingly engaging experience. This isnt your typical nature trail; instead, youre strolling along a well-maintained path that encircles the fascinating remnants of the old brickworks below. The highlight of this walk is undoubtedly the perspective it provides. From this elevated vantage point, you get a comprehensive view of the brick pits ruins – a tangible piece of history laid out before you. Its captivating to observe the old structures and imagine the activity that once filled this space. The "large ring in the sky," as its aptly described, makes for a straightforward and pleasant walk. The path is generally level and wide, making it accessible for most fitness levels. Its a great way to stretch your legs and get some fresh air while taking in a truly unique landscape. While not a traditional scenic hike through lush greenery, the Brick Pit walk offers a different kind of beauty – the beauty of industrial archaeology and the stories it tells. Its a chance to connect with the past and appreciate the transformation of this space. If youre looking for a walk with a difference, offering historical intrigue and interesting views, the Brick Pit ring walk is well worth a visit.

Elizabeth Farm

Stace E We did the special event evening tour 6pm on a Friday night. Getting there on time from the North shore at peak hour was challenging but easier than I expected. Parked right out the front. The tour was very enjoyable and I came away with a new respect for John MacArthur, who I’d previously thought was a fairly horrible person who’d been credited with his wife’s achievements. I wouldn’t do the night tour with little kids, or if you walk with a stick, because the footing’s a bit tricky in the dark but absolutely go there in the daylight, it’s well worth your time.

Powerhouse Castle Hill

Raaman Doraisamy This museum is awesome if youre into cars, trains, or space stuff! The car section has some really cool vintage and modern rides, and the train area has these massive, beautifully restored locomotives. But the best part? The Mars rover models— they have got replica of Curiosity rover, and it’s so cool to see how we’ve explored space. Plus, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable—they are happy to answer questions and share cool stories about the exhibits. It’s a fun, educational, and welcoming experience for everyone!

River Foreshore Reserve

Preeti The key highlight for us was the small playground area for children, perfect for age 4 and above. After some serious climbing up and sliding down, we enjoyed a quick picnic next to the river. Shops and restaurants nearby.

Barrington Tops National Park

Simon Cowling Great place for a stay or just a bush walk. So good I brought the family back. Someone has to let people know that running a generator all night is not socially acceptable.

Prince Alfred Square

Rock Merjudio Nice little park with great design. This is near the river, commbank stadium, bus stops and some churches. The greenery is great since this is surprisingly nkt common especially compared to some suburbs Ive been to. Families with children can go relax. When we went here, there were so few people and you can enjoy the serenity of the place.
