About two months ago, I signed up with this boxing studio after completing a trial session. I was persuaded to purchase an introductory 8-session package, and the coach followed up regularly, urging me to make payment and book in quickly as spots were “filling up.” I decided to commit.
Ahead of one scheduled session, I asked if we could move it a day earlier due to travel. I would have been completely fine if the coach had said no. Instead, he agreed and gave me a new time. I showed up early that morning, only to find the gym locked. I messaged him to confirm if the session was still on. I saw the iMessage “read” receipt that he read the message within three minutes but he never responded. I waited outside in the cold for 10 minutes, unsure whether I was being ghosted or if he was just late. I didn’t hear anything until days later, when I followed up, and was given a vague excuse about schedule changes.
I let that incident go, as it wasn’t part of my original schedule. I eventually completed my first session the following week. But unfortunately, the same thing happened again before my second session: early morning, locked doors, no reply, waited in the cold unsure he was late or I just got ghosted again. This time, I texted saying I would like a refund, and the coach responded about an hour later, saying he had slept through his alarm.
At that point, I realised I couldn’t continue training with a coach I couldn’t trust especially one who showed such a lack of professionalism.
I requested a refund for the remaining 7 unused sessions. He agreed and promised to return the money within two weeks. That was more than a month ago. Since then, I have followed up multiple times with texts and phone calls, most of which have been ignored. The one response I did receive was simply another delay. After that , nothing. No refund, no communication, no explanation.
I’m incredibly disappointed not just in the service itself, but in how poorly the situation has been handled. I paid in good faith and have been more than patient. To be ignored and left without resolution is beyond frustrating and, frankly, unprofessional. I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this experience.
