1 /5 Luciana B: I visited Wanda Gym on Friday afternoon just because I was in the area for new apartment inspections.
Shortly after arriving, a senior female staff member followed me and asked for my details, stating that my profile had no photo. She insisted on taking a photo for the file. I explained that I had already provided all required details when signing up years ago at Barangaroo, and as one of your longest-standing members, I even offered to show my billing statement and ID card as proof. She refused.
I said I would be happy to provide a photo if my home club manager contacted me directly, but as I was only visiting this location once and did not want to argue, I left to train at Cronulla instead.
To my surprise, the Wanda staff member blocked my access without any warning. My access denied when I tried to re-enter Cronulla location. I stopped a staff member in the parking lot and explained the situation. He informed me that the system had already been shut down for the day and he could not reactivate my access. He kindly offered to let me use his card to enter, but I declined and decided to go to Sylvania gym, planning to follow up with the manager.
This was a deeply unpleasant experience. I have since read multiple online reviews mentioning racial discrimination and poor treatment from staff at Wanda site. Until now, I had dismissed these as isolated complaints—but this incident has made me reconsider. I was shocked that my access was revoked without warning, especially after years of loyalty to Fitness First despite offers from other gyms with better facilities and more convenient locations.
