1 /5 Petre DeCastro: Booked a 60th at this club back in May, signed agreement, paid deposit and decided on tentative menus etc with function manager. Party was being held end of July, THREE days prior to event, my daughter followed up with final numbers and we were astounded to be advised they had a double booking. The other party booked after us but because it was a larger group the event manager tried to move us into a small room, then wanted to bus us to a restaurant at Rhodes that the bistro manager managed or move us into the sports bar where smoking is apparently allowed even though we had children attending function.
All of the above options were not feasible, we had guests coming from regional NSW and interstate and had accommodation booked in the area. We asked to speak to General Manager of Hunters Hill Club and advised that the correct procedure would be for them to go back to other party who booked after us and advise they would need to change date or venue. Function and bistro staff were rude and aggressive.
We ended up having to try to find an alternative venue three days out from my party, Hunters Hill HOTEL came to our aid, they were renovating but gave us some space for my party. We also had to advise suppliers of cake and decor so the deliveries could be changed.
The whole experience was stressful, Hunters Hill Club were unprofessional and incompetent, did not honour our signed agreement and deposit paid two months prior.
If you are contemplating using this club as a venue, save yourself the drama and stress. Go somewhere that have staff that understand event management, customer service and legal and moral obligations to their customers.
