4 /5 Sharon Lp: As a recent member, I’ve been impressed by the quality of equipment and facilities this gym provides. A standout feature was the complimentary personal training session with Ryan, whose knowledge of body mechanics, functional conditioning, and strength training is exceptional. As a healthcare professional who works with patients daily, I particularly appreciate Ryan’s ability to assess an individual’s physical capacity and tailor training around their endurance, injury history, and athletic background. His communication is clear, professional, and evidence-informed.
Another valuable aspect of this gym is its martial arts program. I’ve been involved in various disciplines since childhood and remain highly active. While it’s always a transition joining a new gym, the coach was welcoming and several students were friendly, which made the experience enjoyable at first.
However, I was disappointed by the structure of the grappling/BJJ classes. The lack of a dedicated fundamentals program for beginners leads to mixed-level sessions that compromise both flow and safety. As someone who has trained in multiple BJJ academies both onshore and offshore, I’ve seen the importance of structured progression. Placing untrained individuals directly into rolling sessions without adequate grounding in positioning, movement mechanics, and safety principles increases the risk of injury and creates unnecessary disruptions for others. Unfortunately, this was evident during my very first session, where a beginner with no understanding of the sport became distressed during rolling — a situation that could have been avoided with proper foundational instruction.
I strongly recommend the gym consider introducing a foundational program to better support newbies. This would enhance learning, reduce preventable injuries, and maintain the integrity of the more advanced sessions.
