1 /5 Joshua Chapman: It’s been over a year since my consultation with Jeffrey Choy at JCL Legal, and after much reflection on my ongoing difficulties, I feel it is important to revisit the matter and share my experience—especially for vulnerable individuals seeking legal assistance.
Admittedly, he may not have known the full backstory of my complex family situation involving trust mismanagement and emotional hardship. However, during our consultation, I was shocked by how aggressive he was. His approach felt prejudicial, and instead of creating an environment where I could openly discuss my significant challenges, I felt unfairly judged. At multiple points, he shouted at me, making it impossible to properly share the details of my case.
While Jeffrey Choy did show some sympathy toward the end of the consultation, his initial intimidation and the manner in which he handled the situation were not acceptable. Despite this, he attempted to sell me "life advice," much like I’ve heard he has done with others. This left me feeling unsupported at a time when I needed professionalism and understanding.
Though it has been more than a year, I believe it’s my public duty to inform others—especially those in vulnerable situations—of my experience. I advise caution when approaching JCL Legal, as my experience suggests that the environment may not be conducive to handling sensitive, complex cases with the care they deserve.
