1 /5 N G: Review: Disappointed with today’s experience
I’ve been a regular customer at your restaurant — both for takeaway and dine-in — and have often recommended it to my friends. Today, I brought two friends (who aren’t from an Indian background) for your Sunday buffet because I’ve always enjoyed your food.
My friends chose the buffet, but since I’m vegetarian and didn’t see the dishes I usually like, I ordered a paneer tikka instead. Normally, paneer tikka comes with some sliced onions and mint sauce — even just a few onion rings. However, today there were no onions and the mint sauce was an artificially coloured yogurt that had no real flavour.
When I politely asked the young girl serving us (who was lovely and very polite) if I could please have some normal mint sauce — like the one that came with my friend’s poppadums — she told me, “No, we can’t give that one, it’s finished.” This was surprising, especially since it was only 12:30 pm.
I then asked if I could at least have a few onions, as that’s normally included. She checked and came back to say, “We’ve changed the menu; it’s now achari paneer and onions are charged separately.”
I wasn’t asking for anything free — I simply expected what’s usually served with the dish, or at least a reasonable explanation. Another staff member, who seemed more senior, later came and asked if they could change my dish, which I appreciated, but it wasn’t about that. It was just about something as simple as a few onions and proper mint chutney.
It’s not about the cost; it’s about principle and consistency. I’ve always supported your restaurant and even brought new customers with me today, but I left feeling disappointed over something so small that could have been handled better.
Please don’t take this out on the young waitress — she was polite and only following what she’s been told. But as a loyal customer, I truly hope you’ll take this feedback seriously. Unfortunately, after today’s experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning, and you’ve lost a few regulars.
