3 /5 Rigby Wong: 1st time here. Like their sense of humour…Sumimasen in Japanese means “I am sorry “.
Food is the most expensive Japanese I had in the suburbs around Sydney by comparing taste, portions and overall quality. I’m sure there could be Japanese even more expensive closer to CBD & whether they’re value for money is yet to be find out.
Taste here is average. Portion here is small. I’ve even told them the dish I fancy is Chanko Nabe (sumo wrestler hotpot) so usually Japanese lunch could only half fill my appetite, kinda expected. But when my boss who usually satisfies, complained about the portions, that’s a 1st.
They closed at 2:30 pm & happy to see us when we walked in at 1:30 pm, that’s good.
However, while they’re sure there will be surcharge for using card payment, but they don’t know the percentage, which is weird. Further, they can’t printout a receipt & I have to take a screenshot of the display of the cash register using my phone, which is weird.
So, as we all can see on the photo receipt, $10 for 4 pcs of deep fried pork Gyoza, $9.5 for 3 pcs of Agedashi Tofu, $22 curry rice + $3.5 extra rice (both my boss & I don’t feel anything extra), & lastly $21 yakisoba = total $66, half filling portions, average (at the best) taste.
Don’t think we will be back within foreseeable future as we both could come up with several Japanese places we’ve been to off our head, which’s cheaper, &/or tastier, &/or with bigger portions. All of these places, even in worst case scenario, are at least as equal to Sumimasen, if not above.
Well as I said up front, they’ve already said “I’m sorry” so expectations should be “amended” accordingly.
