4 /5 Rigby Wong: 1st time here.
Same as almost every single Thai place around Sydney, dishes are much much sweeter than eg Bangkok or Phuket.
Take Tom Yum Gong for example, what makes it special is the balance of 4 taste: salty, spicy, sweet & sour. Here, the soup is overpoweringly too sweet.
I would say it’s a pity because taste here are robust & rich in favour. So it could be something great. Overpowering sweet ruins it. But after all, if majority of Aussie prefer it sweet, then who am I to say no?
Given as today’s experience, I list my dishes from least sweet to most sweet as below:
(1) steam rice (I am not kidding, it’s cooked perfect in terms of smell, taste & texture)
(2) pineapple fry rice with duck (surprisingly not too sweet)
(3) tofu vegetables stir fry (getting a bit too sugary)
(4) satay chicken (well cook, quite juicy but sauce too sweet, can’t taste anything else eg peanut)
(5) Tom yum gong (rich & flavourful broth base overpowered by sweet, can’t taste any salty, not spicy, not sour neither)
What a waste!
Dec 22, 2025-the chef kindly promised to reduce sugar for my order by 50%.
Tom Yum chicken soup - better than last time but still too sweet. Leftover as photos.
Stir fry vegi w/tofu - best dish so far. Not too sweet neither too salty.
Crispy pork w/broccoli - too sweet & too salty. The pork is NOT crispy at all. As seen on photo, pork skin can’t be chew & could only discard (as photo).
Overall less sweet therefore better than last time. Nonetheless I would request to reduce sugar to zero % next time & stay away from “crispy pork”.
Feb 23 2026- My boss thinks the Laksa with Tofu & Vegetables tastes good, just the portion is bigger than her appetite.
Stir Fry Mix Vegetables & Tom Yum Fry Rice with Duck are still heavy handed with salt & sugar, nonetheless less powerful than previous experiences (I completely forgot to request less salt less sugar this time, so it is my bad!)
