1 /5 Jason McDonald: What a disappointment. We had high hopes for the Corner, but were disappointed from start to end. Firstly, our drinks took quite a long time and arrived at the same time as our food. We could only see 3 staff members in front, which is far too few for table service with that many tables. The staff looked flustered most of the time. We ordered a wide selection of sharing type meals… they told us about a kids special that wasn’t on the menu, which was potatoes and a frankfurter. They first brought fish instead of the frankfurter, which is quite odd - it seems they didn’t have the ingredients in the kitchen and decided to give us fish instead? Odd. We raised this and a few minutes later the frankfurters came. Next problem is that the frankfurters were spicy… not a good idea for a kids meal, so our kids did not eat them. Next, the prawns came out undercooked. I ate one to try to give it a chance, but sent the other two back (three in total are served) to be cooked some more. Instead of bringing me a fresh plate, they brought the two original prawns, which I guess were fried for a bit longer. Is it too much to expect a new plate of food, after serving undercooked prawns? Service did not improve throughout, so it was difficult to get another drink or any type of assistance, without physically going to a member of staff (this is not table service). Then came the bill…we were charged $27.50 for each kids meal, which is a bit ridiculous for one spicy sausage and some potatoes. The rest was overpriced for what we received also. Then there is the surcharge… a Sunday surcharge wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu that was given to us, or anywhere else in plain sight. I found it at the bottom of one of the other menus, which we didn’t even see. The cherry on the top is that when we settled our bill, I placed cash in the little tin cup that they brought the receipt in. There was no one available to greet as we left, so we just walked out. The server came running after us asking if we had paid… it would’ve been a good idea to first check in the tin cup before doing so. A comedy of errors - never again.
