5 /5 Isla: Best, crispiest honey chicken I have had in a LONG TIME. Such a bargain for the quantity and quality you receive. The fact that this place looks exactly how it did so many years ago, is honestly quite charming and it attests to how consistently good the food has been to remain in business for so long. Lovely service. Occasional long wait time, but the food is FRESH FRESH FRESH - good things take time they say. Well worth the wait. Best chinese in Engadine by far

3 /5 P G: The interior of the restaurant is quite shabby and looks tired. The decorations looked ancient, like a dynasty setting that was past its usefulness. There were a number of people though, who seemed to be happy enough. My sister in law recommended the place for the food, so it probably lives by its local reputation. The seats were comfortable; I sat on one while waiting for my order. However, the lady serving was dressed in neat traditional wear and was very friendly and helpful. Without her attitude, this review would only be two stars. I ordered a mult-person takeaway pack. The variety of selections was very good. The flavours were enjoyable but not exceptional; like many Chinese restaurants. Probably will purchase food elsewhere next time.

5 /5 Claymore Marshall: Viva Chinese is a diamond in the rough for a local Chinese takeaway. It was my first time trying this place but I was seriously impressed. Its good quality, tasty Chinese food that comes at very reasonable prices. There is limited information on this location, and some other reviews are quite negative, but based on my experience with takeaway, I would encourage anyone thinking about trying this place to definitely take the plunge. You may not agree with other reviews on the quality of the food. We had takeaway, and I cannot comment on dining in. The interior has an older atmosphere, but I dont care, I care about the food, and when we eat Chinese, we like takeaway. Id actually currently rate this place the best chinese at least in the Sutherland shire (certainly all of Engadine), in terms of taste and value for money. Tried the honey king prawns, Singapore noodles and chicken with shallots and ginger. All were good. Several other reviews on this restaurant indicate the honey chicken is very good, and I can confirm what they are talking about also applies to the honey king prawns. Whatever they do with the batter and method they use, the honey king prawns came out crispy, with no soggy batter inside, and they remained crispy for at least 90 minutes after pick up (they were all eaten by that point). The Singapore noodles taste far better than ones Ive tried from other Chinese restaurants in the shire. What I personally liked about the chicken with (insert your choice of sauce here), is that they offer a generous serving of crispy vegetables along with the chicken, and in our case it came with lots of fresh tasting strips of ginger. Added bonuses: - they serve all their dishes in large plastic containers, not medium plastic containers as some restaurants do for takeaway for their main dishes. - like other locations nearby, they provide prawn crackers (At least for reasonably large orders) - One of the best value for money takeaway restaurants in the area. Much appreciated that they offer 10% cash discount (please support businesses by not ordering from online platforms for delivery!). This incentive is a welcome positive for the customer. This restaurant has been around for a long time, and I hope it remains around for a lot longer. I will repeat. I wish Id taken the risk and tried this place sooner over previous go-to Chinese takeaways.
