1 /5 Eden Pappiah: sadly, this was the worst nail salon experience i’ve ever had. i went in to B White Nails earlier this week to get a full acrylic set with shellac, as my usual nail tech was booked out.
even though i called ahead to secure a time when it would be most convenient for them, i still found myself waiting 25 minutes for someone to start my set, even though there was only one other customer in the salon, and three members of staff working.
once someone had decided to sit down and begin my set, he was extremely rough with my hands and cut my cuticles multiple times with the drill, to the point where one of my fingers actually bled. he also kept aggressively yanking my hand across the table.
i showed the man doing my nails a picture of a simple ombré french tip, and he assured me that he could replicate it exactly, he instead used a brush rather than a sponge and there are streaky lines in the polish. while from afar you can’t tell, up close it looks untidy at best.
once he had finished up, i had acrylic remnants all over my fingers, right up to the second knuckle. there was no effort to clean it up, there was also no oil put on my cuticles.
i asked how much the set was, and paid a whopping $80 for an extremely subpar experience. while this is partially my fault for not speaking up, after reflecting i believe that for the service i received, that it was unreasonable for me to pay the full price.
my last point, the whole experience took three hours, which in the 6 years i’ve been getting acrylic, has never taken so long.
while my nails look somewhat passable, i was overall appalled by how i was treated during the process, and i urge anyone who sees this, to simply go elsewhere. it’s not worth the risk of losing a finger to a possible
infection.
