1 /5 Jess Weltner: I am left with negative feedback about the company due to a lack of logic and understanding to help two potential new members.
My partner and I joined Core24 to complete a 4 week trial. This started well until 2 weeks in when my partner needed to have surgery and Core24 had no leniency on pausing this to allow him to continue the trial after his recovery. Instead they tried to have us pay $20 to suspend a gym membership he doesn’t have yet.
I also had issues with trying to transfer my old gym membership to Core24 given that they promised they could “dissolve my other membership” but when I asked for this to happen, this didn’t work with the trial. This was not clearly explained by the staff in our conversations. It also doesn’t make sense that during a “free trial” we are given no time to actually trial the gym before cancelling our other current membership. As I was enjoying Core24, I gave more notice than I was anticipating (early this week) to cancel and begin officially with Core24. Now I can’t afford to pay 2 x memberships at the same time as they’re suggesting. I unfortunately will also have to cancel my Core24 membership after the free trial given that no accommodations can be made again.
Given that Core24 should prioritise health and wellbeing, it is upsetting to hear that nothing can be adjusted to allow someone to recover from a medical procedure before finishing a trial membership. In this industry especially, we hoped that logical adjustments and understandings could be made. This matter was escalated to the owner and still, nothing could be done.
Our experience was very disappointing to say the least.
