1 /5 Abdullah Majeed: I was a member of Freeway Fitness years ago, and leaving was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The place has always felt toxic — the managers and reception staff are rude, dismissive, and never genuinely helpful. They act like members are a problem rather than paying customers.
I still have over ten family members who go there, and every time I see them, there’s another story about rude treatment, shady management, or how impossible it is to get help. The only reason they’re still there is because they’re trapped in contracts and thought the price was worth it — but every single one of them plans to leave the day their contracts end. That says everything.
This isn’t a one-off issue either. Freeway Fitness was previously investigated by Consumer Affairs Victoria for breaching consumer laws and unfair membership practices — and from everything I’ve seen and heard, it doesn’t seem like much has changed.
The culture here is built on control and image, not care or professionalism. Staff are pressured to post fake 5-star reviews to drown out honest feedback, which explains why the public image never matches the reality.
I haven’t trained there in years, and I’ve never felt so free.
I fully expect the gym will reply to this review with something defensive or shaming — that’s what they usually do — but these are my honest experiences and observations.
If you value respect, honesty, and a healthy gym environment, look elsewhere. You’ll thank yourself later.
