1 /5 Niyousha Shahrabi: I’ve been a member at many gyms, and I joined this one only because my previous gym was under renovation. Before I signed up, they literally wouldn’t stop calling me—at least 5 times a day. But after joining, whenever you actually need help, no one takes responsibility. They constantly say they “forgot to follow it up,” which is very disappointing, because if the matter doesn’t benefit them, they don’t care.
I had an incident at the gym where I was the last person to leave with my mum, her friend, and three of my friends and We forgot to take our bag. Also obviously if our items were all over the floor someone would have seen it since there was so many of us. Ten minutes later, the cleaning lady called me using my mum’s phone, which was in the bag, and told me I had to come back and collect it. She refused to hand the bag to the manager. I obviously panicked and went back, because it already felt suspicious and I was worried they might take the bag.
When I got it back, my cash and necklace were missing. When I reported this to the gym, they didn’t take any responsibility and didn’t even bother to call me about the issue. Their staff said they checked the change rooms before closing and didn’t see anything on the floor, but somehow the cleaners found my bag with everything supposedly spread out on the floor after the staff had checked. If another customer had done this, I could understand, but since these people are hired by the gym, the lack of follow-up shows how little respect they have for their customers. You should at least be able to trust the gym and the people they employ.
Honestly, I would’ve stopped going if I could end my contract early, because I’m cold-hearted and traumatised now, and I hate it there.
