1 /5 Leisha: I visited ANZ today, and I was very disappointed with the service I received. As soon as we entered the branch, no one greeted us, despite the sign clearly stating “please wait to be served.” I had to approach the counter myself to be assisted.
I was served by an Asian lady who seemed uninterested and unprofessional, especially as she ignored us when she first came in. I was there to deposit cash into my bank account, but during the transaction, it was clear what seemed like a new employee was struggling with his work. He went up to her for help, but rather than offering a simple “I’ll be with you in a minute,” she proceeded to explain things to him in front of me. When he still had questions, she snapped at him, saying, “I can’t be in two places at once.”
It was uncomfortable and embarrassing to witness such unprofessional behaviour, particularly towards an employee in front of a customer. It left me feeling disappointed and uncomfortable, and I felt sorry for the gentleman who was treated that way.
After this experience, I went to Commonwealth Bank, where I was treated far better. It’s a shame that ANZ’s service fell so short, and I truly hope the employee who was mistreated knows that this kind of behaviour is not acceptable in any workplace.
