5 /5 Carmi Zuniga: Kumbira just won over my very picky Filipino tastebuds. I’ve long wanted to take my Aussie friends to a Filipino restaurant that’s genuinely worth showing off, and I might have just found the place.
We ordered the seared tuna kilawin, chicken inasal, bone marrow fried rice, and pork sisig. And honestly, every dish was spot on. The kilawin was bright and clean, the chicken inasal had that smoky, backyard grill soul, and the bone marrow fried rice was rich, savoury, and borderline addictive. The sisig was exactly what sisig should be: sizzling, crunchy in the right spots, and packed with flavour.
Prices are surprisingly reasonable considering the generous portions, quality, and thoughtful plating. Service was warm and friendly , very Filipino. They did have a small hiccup during the meal, but the way they handled it was spot-on: quick, sincere, and professional. If anything, the recovery made the experience even better.
If you’ve never had it and want the perfect introduction to Filipino cuisine, Kumbira is absolutely worth the stop.
