4 /5 nickelfoodrevs: For the first time ever, I’m only reviewing the fish from a fish and chip place, because I’m starting to pack on weight from all these reviews.
I got the grilled Barramundi ($14) and grilled Flake ($12).
Both were ready within 12 minutes. I got quoted 10 minutes, 2 minutes over, meh, inconsequential. Still decently quick, which is always appreciated, especially when I’m a bit peckish.
I really enjoyed the quality of the fish.
If I had to rate the flavour of each fish separately, I’d rate 4/5 for the Flake, and 3.5/5 for the Barramundi.
The Flake had that mildly sweetish flavour that Flake is known for.
Probably not the most flavourful I’ve had. But then again, most fish I’ve had from fish and chip shops don’t reach that legendary 5-star for me, I’m very picky.
The Barramundi had some flavour, but not as buttery or tasty as I would have liked, like I get from certain fishmongers. They also appeared to have left a bit of the skin on, which added a bit of that classic “fishy” taste, which I’m not a huge fan of.
Both fish were decently moist, and they both had a light coating of some sort, I’m assuming flour?
I liked the inclusion of two slices of lemon as well, which helped mask the taste of the Barramundi a little bit. Both fish were piping hot, fresh off the grill.
I’d be curious to try their chips next time. In conclusion, a nice little spot with decent quality fish.
