2 /5 Joyce: First time customer and had a gel powder manicure done today, there were loads of customers in store and had to wait about 20mins past the appointment before starting.
Manicure was decent (polish had minor bubbles in about half the nails (most people probably wouldnt notice), some cross contamination with the holographic fragments on the nails without). Kind of annoying that the gel/polish went onto my cuticles so now my fingers looks like my cuticles are peeling and I couldnt get them out after one shower... Hopefully a second shower will loosen the flakes up.
Experience was definitely lacking. One of the fragments wasnt laying flat so I told the nail tech that the finish wasnt smooth and she was absolutely unhappy about it. Asked rather rudely "what do you want? You want another nail?" Whatever that meant. She was loud enough that everyone turned to look at us. I was like, can you just put another top coat on? So she did which made the finish smoother.
The same nail tech was also short with the customer next to me who was asking about trying to get a spot of polish off her skin, dismissing her immediately. I might give this place another go if I can pick the nail tech because there were lots of regulars after Vincent?
Edit: seems like I have a reply! I was fine with waiting before starting the old polish removal process, didnt make a fuss at all and spent most of the time picking colours which there were loads of. Understandably popular places = some waiting involved.
Trying to gain more knowledge/make conversation by asking Vincent about the different gel types as I have limited experience with manicures clearly counted against me (not asking was how I ended up with big SNS from a previous manicure, but shrugs). Ill take that feedback and ask if the future places I visit would like small talk or not eh.
Native English speaker here too so peeved about that comment about my English proficiency! However English was Kylies second language - gotta admit a noisy salon coupled with language barrier makes things more difficult.
Thanks for the reply anyway! I do agree that the gel powder nails were done thin and not chunky at all (not mentioned in my original review but will put it out there just in case a new customer stumbles across my essay). Will be sure to not impose on you guys again!
Last edit: Am almost half way through growing out my nails now from the lines made by the nail drill along my cuticles back then (see the curved lines halfway up across my natural nails?). Only got my nails done a handful of times in my life but cant say Ive ever gone to a salon which has filed this way before. Dropped ratings from three stars to two stars for this reason.
