5 /5 Alan Liang: Fantastic sunset spot overlooking Goulburn river, the spillway and the mountainous surroundings. Has a few chairs and places to sit but would recommend bringing chairs to watch with unobstructed views!
3 /5 Kitty Kat: The view from Fogg’s lookout is worth the drive - even the last bit where the road is unsurfaced with large exposed rocks in places.
There were a couple of issues which soured the visit somewhat for me. You cannot drive right up to the lookout. The road widens a little so you can pull over.
So for those of us with mobility issues it is a disappointment. It was a very hot day which is already problematic, but I was determined to see the view from the lookout. So I grabbed my stick and took it slowly up the stony slope. It was pretty slippery with the surface shifting under my feet, but I got there.
Long story short, it’s a lovely view and worth the drive. But be prepared to enjoy the view from your car if the slope is an issue.
5 /5 K C: A quiet spot with a few benches and a picnic table and breathtaking views at any time of day. The sunset is not visible from the viewing area but can be caught from the adjacent road.
Unfortunately the copper dial has been removed by vandals. There are no bins, toilets or running water at this site, so make sure to bring water, tissue paper and a rubbish bag with you if you plan on staying a little while.
4 /5 Suvrat Upadhye: Great spot. But no parking for cars, no picnic area, no water fountain, no bbq area, no toilets, and covered seating is not adequate when raining and windy.
The view is worth it... however, its a spot to go, visit, spend 10 mins and back to base... do not plan a picnic here.
4 /5 JMS: Pretty good view of the lake. Probably the best view you will get from any of the lookouts around the area.
Lloyd Smyth Wonderful day out - can recommend the days before Easter long weekend as a great time to visit! Beautiful weather, smaller crowds, lots of opportunities to see animals up close without any time pressures! Nice food and toilet facilities throughout the park, including picnic tables. April is a great time to visit with the trees providing plenty of shade even in the middle of day. Our favourite animals on this trip included the Goanna, Echidnas and Koalas!
Anne C Very pretty area to visit.
Good mix of tracks to take you up and down throughout.
The section at the top near the trestle bridge is so lovely, especially where it curves slightly to give you the view of the green fields nearby. Gorgeous.
Simon Neill Its a very nice station that trains stop at to fill up at and let guests explore around while they wait.
I got a good photo of the last train of the day getting ready to leave with the passengers.
Very nice.
Average Epicurean Plenty of information from the staff about the surrounding area. A souvenir stand, cafe, restrooms and a museum is also available on site. Alot of beautiful scenery heading towards Emerald Lake, highly recommend taking a look around for some beautiful scenery.
Yubo Zhuo Very beautiful railway and recommended to sit on the left side when going to Belgrave and right side for coming from Belgrave so you can see the best views. Many photos can be taken. Recommend to wear a face mask for people who have dust allergies because the smoke is quite thick and there are bits of charcoal inside the smoke. There are many local residents waving at you when you are on the train and the big bridge section is great view. Book your tickets ahead if it is holidays.
Rob the Nomad Exceptional stunning garden to see, such a beautiful array of vibrant colors from different leaves of Japanese Maples with highly manicured gardens that you can take endless pics of. Nice place to relax and enjoy the natural splendor of native and imported plants with century old trees.
