5 /5 Miyah: I’ve been training at Anytime Fitness Box Hill for several months now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the better gyms I’ve experienced in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Whether you’re a beginner just getting into fitness or someone more advanced looking for a well-equipped, clean, and no-nonsense gym, this location ticks most of the boxes.
Facilities & Equipment: 9/10
The gym itself is clean, modern, and surprisingly spacious considering it’s in a busy area. There’s a solid range of equipment, from free weights and resistance machines to cardio gear. The weight section is particularly impressive—with enough squat racks, benches, and dumbbells to avoid the usual peak-hour bottlenecks. Everything is kept in good condition and maintained well, which is something I really value. They’ve also added a functional training area with sled tracks, kettlebells, battle ropes, and other gear that adds versatility to your workouts.
Atmosphere & Vibe: 8/10
There’s a friendly, low-pressure vibe at this gym. The staff are approachable without being pushy, and the members are a nice mix of ages and fitness levels, which makes the space feel inclusive. It’s not a “look at me” kind of gym, which I appreciate. Most people are there to train, not to pose for Instagram. Lighting is good, music is at a decent volume, and there are plenty of mirrors if you’re checking form.
Staff & Management: 9/10
Staff are genuinely helpful. The manager and trainers are always up for a chat and are happy to offer tips or help out with form if asked. They also respond quickly to emails or membership-related queries. You can tell they care about the space and their members.
Cleanliness: 10/10
Huge shoutout to the team for how well this place is kept. Even during busy periods, equipment is wiped down regularly, the bathrooms and showers are spotless, and there’s plenty of sanitizer around. It’s clear hygiene is taken seriously, which is reassuring—especially in a post-COVID world.
Accessibility: 9/10
Being a 24/7 gym is one of Anytime Fitness’s best features, and Box Hill is no exception. Entry is easy with a fob key, and there’s plenty of parking nearby (especially if you don’t mind walking a minute or two). It’s also really close to public transport—only a few minutes’ walk from Box Hill Station—so it’s super convenient whether you drive or commute.
Room for Improvement:
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the gym could benefit from a few more niche pieces of equipment like a hack squat machine or additional cable attachments. Also, like most gyms, peak times (around 5-7 PM) can still get a little busy—but nothing unbearable.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Anytime Fitness Box Hill is a fantastic gym that delivers on what it promises—flexibility, cleanliness, quality equipment, and a friendly, welcoming environment. It’s a great spot for anyone looking for a 24/7 training option without the overhyped gym atmosphere. Highly recommend giving it a go if you’re in the area.
