1 /5 John Neff: I’m really disappointed with the experience here and feel the need to warn others. In the past week, an instructor (Narelle) twice touched me without asking one correction injured my back, and another time she grabbed my hands and forced my fingers back, which hurt me again. There was no apology, no acknowledgement, nothing.
On top of that, she has repeatedly spoken to me rudely, called me out in front of the whole class, and made me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. Her attitude is honestly shocking.
What makes this worse is that her behaviour goes against several AUSactive Code of Conduct rules that all gyms and instructors are supposed to follow. She didn’t prioritise my safety, didn’t maintain professional boundaries, didn’t get my consent before touching me, wasn’t courteous or respectful, and didn’t consider my individual needs at all.
Management’s compensation felt like a box tick, not an actual attempt to address what happened.
No one should be touched without consent or made to feel humiliated in a fitness class. I hope this helps someone else avoid the same experience.
