5 /5 Fabian Lim: I have trained here for the last 2 years+ and the experience have been very enjoyable. Unfortunately, having to relocate to another state, I look forward to finding a place with some of the same elements from here.
All the trainers here (coaches and professors) have been great at transferring their knowledge while also guiding you in a practical way throughout the training sessions. Their guidance, perspective and insights towards my techniques and mechanics have on many occasions created light bulb moments for me.
One of my favourite things about this place is that while there are many skilled black belts trainers at the school, they also have coaches represented at different ranks, physical builds and almost all age groups. This gives you an invaluable exposure to a variety of different strategies, techniques and BJJ styles to learn and emulate from.
Ultimately, they are able to offer great insights from a variety of lenses which is great from a learning perspective for me especially in working out what application of techniques, tactics and strategies would work best for me. It also helps you feel some sense of solidarity as you learn, grow and evolve with your coaches in some way.
My other favorite thing about Gracie Barra Hornsby is that while they have many serious competitors there, they also have quite a few regular/casual people who train there (represented at all ranks and ages) at a more casual pace due to other relatable life commitments.
For me, the diversity of trainees and trainers at Gracie Barra Hornsby truly make this place a welcoming, supportive and encouraging environment.
