Solar Boroondara A once excellent gym that has unfortunately deteriorated. It’s a shame to see management has sadly neglected essential maintenance and cleanliness, resulting in a disappointing and sometimes unsafe environment.
Despite repeated concerns communicated to the friendly staff, there have been no noticeable improvements.
The state of the equipment is particularly alarming. Key machines are either fully broken or in a precarious/clunky state, with some having been out of service for months.
Other key signs of neglect:
- Gym floor water fountain has been non-functional for almost a year
- Noticeable damage to the drywall around the gym (sorry, an A4 bit of paper is not a suitable fix)
- Adjustment knobs on cable machines have fallen off and have not been replaced
- Carabiners for cable machine constantly go missing and take weeks to be replaced
- Broken cable attachments are not replaced at all (I’m not even kidding, this morning there was only ONE stirrup handle attachment for the WHOLE gym)
- Half the cables are missing their rubber cover / protection near the cable clip
- Men’s bathroom floor is always covered in water, likely due to an unattended leak.
- Majority of male lockers are missing doors or have broken locks
- Toilet seat in the mens bathroom has been in disrepair for over a year.
- Temperature control on main gym floor is extremely poor. Often same (or hotter) then outside temperature.
- Mouthwash dispenser has not been refilled since it was installed
- Missing hairdryer attachments have not been replaced
- Broken plastic tubs and scattered screws and parts on the floor pose hazards.
In addition to these issues, there is an overall lack of cleanliness. Floors and machines are layered with dust and grime, indicating a severe need for a professional deep clean.
Please please please employ a regular maintainer and a deep cleaner. It’s a necessary step and critical for the health, safety and comfort of us members
This is a call for urgent action to restore the gym to its former standard, which the members rightfully expect given the fees they pay.
