3 /5 Aayush Vats: Played few cricket games here. The outfield is great but the pitch is too narrow. It doesnt meet the standards. The run up from apartments end is bad. Its like running up and down a hill. Parking is ample. The facilities are fine.
3 /5 Oz Khan: Nice open park, with cricket grounds and some toilets right at the back. There is plenty of parking, on the road and inside.
No shaded spots or seating, so you have to take chairs, umbrellas, etc, as it gets very hot. Okish park, good fields and plenty of space for matches.
5 /5 Sharon: Well maintained fields, the grass is nice. The fields are flat, no holes in the ground, nice firm ground. There are public restrooms available.
There is also a small parking lot available , otherwise there is street parking or a carpark on the other side of the road.
3 /5 Tanya Vanderkooi: Walked around here today. There are toilets, bbq area, picnic tables, sports fields, Velodrome and Two Valley trail.
HISTORY
The site was property of Fredrick Wright Unwin. He built a country mansion " Wanstead" by 1837 he also built a bridge across Cooks River and a road to his property and the settlements beyond. The road known as " Unwind Bridge Road ".
The original reserve was proclaimed in 1911 and was known as Wolli Park. It was then converted to a rubbish tip in 1955.
The park was reestablished here in 1960s it was named after Alderman Ashton Waterworth who served on the Canterbury council from 1928 to 1934.
The Velodrome and football stadium were opened in 1982.
5 /5 Patrick G: What a beautiful park!! Theres lots of walks, wide paths lovely grassed areas for picnics and ball games, a delightful walk down the river bank, very sad that its totally polluted!! And visit at high tide!! Very close to the train station.
Lots of shady areas under the pine & gum trees, a lovely cricket ground complete with picket fence, pavilion and grandstand and just over the road are some expansive ovals where they play touch footy!! An oasis in a crazy city full of unnecessary overbuilding of massive blocks of flats!@
Wahyu Setyaning I love visiting park hereee, so beautiful, best for kids, couple, parents and many more, free barbeque tools so you can bring your own meats, sauce, ingredients to have bbq there. There is also playground for kids.
