Skylah Cox Tom is wonderful. After being told no to what I want and often coming out of appointments with other salons feeling disappointed, he was the first one in a long time to really listen to what I wanted and help me do it. He was friendly and laid back which made the appointment a lot easier and less nerve wracking for me. He answered any questions I had without making me feel like I was too much. It’s always scary going to a new hairdresser when you are on a budget and don’t know if you’ll like the result, this experience was a relief. Overall just love him and would love him to know how happy I am! If you’re after a bouncy 90s blowout and cut he’s a great option. Thank you Tom.

Ella Fullerman Booked a haircut and blow dry with Olivia and was severely disappointed. I used to have a regular hairdresser at this location however as they moved locations I had to switch. From the get-go Olivia was unwelcoming and unenthusiastic. I asked for face framing and curtain bangs however, Olivia said that curtain bangs would be unflattering on me as I have a "round face". And so, the actual haircut itself was the main issue. She cut my hair only when it was wet, and did not finish it dry - which every other hairdresser usually does. As a result, my hair was unevenly layered, heavy at the ends and messy. Additionally, she did not use the appointment time effectively. Her next client arrived early and so my hair was still soaking wet. Olivia then proceed to messily spray heat protectant all over my hair and face before starting the blow dry. The rushing and half-hearted manner was all over her face. She burnt the middle of my scalp using excessive heat which meant my scalp peeled for days afterwards. She was also so rough with my hair that I had breakage as well as scratches on my face from the round brush being used with excessive force. Also, when she cut the hair, it was landing all over me - which I know is not normal practice as most of it was avoidable. The framing I understand, but if you are cutting layering, it is common curtsey to have the hair fall on the floor rather than the top of the clients head. As mentioned before, she did not cut it dry as she was seemingly rushing to get my hair done - even though I arrived on time. When walking me to the desk to pay she didnt say anything to me, instead talked to the girl at the reception. She walked off without another word. I was speechless. Sorry but I will never ever come back to an Edwards and co salon because of this experience. Its a shame as the I have had good experiences before but, I have never been treated like this at a salon before. I had to go to another hair salon to fix the mess. Cannot speak for other stylists at this salon but I can confidently say, I did not have a good experience with Olivia.

Elise Rodrigo Super happy with my new hair cut, Catherine was so lovely and did exactly what I asked for! She was so attentive to the little details, checking in to see if I wanted more layers, more length off, making sure I was happy with the cut all the way through. Will definitely be returning for a trim in a few months

Kate Stirling **Since leaving this review, I’ve had a response from the owner advising they’d call me. This hasn’t happened. I was also asked on the initial call with their Customer Service representative if I could consider taking the review down…**
I’ve had 3 visits to the Fitzroy salon and 2 of those visits I was really happy with, despite having spent close to $1000. The reason I’m writing the review is because I had to have my hair fixed. I chose a colourist that has over 30 years experience and thankfully charged me half the price of what you can expect to pay at Edwards & Co.
I understood from the start that lightening my hair from black box dye would be a process but my previous visit was also my last.
My highlights were placed by my usual colourist but then I was handed over to a 3rd year apprentice. I completely understand apprentices are learning on the job, but I’m not prepared to pay almost $600 to be left in their hands with such a ‘difficult’ colouring process. A lot of whispering, laughing and checking on bottles at the colour station went on during the toning process where my usual colourist told the apprentice to “just use that and keep going”… Honestly leaving me to believe a mistake had been made. Only to be told when I asked the question that they were just joking around and not to worry.
After the final wash, I was left with base dye on my face and forehead and was asked to sit in the chair to wait for the hair stylist.
I’d previously explained to Jas in the 2 minutes she’d spent with me while getting my highlights that I was after layers at the front to help frame my face and wanted some volume. When she finally got around to seeing me, I asked her if we’d decided exactly what we were going to do… She told me she usually does a consult before colouring but didn’t have time and she would trim the ends, completely disregarding what I was asking for. I explained I wanted more than that and she bluntly asked me “Well what do you want?”
At this point I’d been sitting in this salon for almost 4.5 hours and told her not to worry about it, I just want to get home. She then asked another girl to help her blow dry my hair. So my head was being pulled in different directions all at the same time and being made to feel that I was not at all a priority, just someone they were rushing to get out the door. I was watching the girl sitting next to me having her stylists full attention as he finished up her hair and not making her feel like a nuisance.
When it came time to pay, I actually cried. To her credit, the lovely woman at the front desk asked why I wasn’t happy and offered to have it fixed. I explained I wouldn’t be coming back and she ultimately didn’t charge me.
My hair, before having it fixed in one session to exactly how I wanted it in the first place, was brassy, not blended, red and with very awful blonde streaks on both side of my head with a huge amount of breakage. I was shown the back of my hair where many pieces were significantly shorter than others due to my hair breaking. It didn’t even look like my hair. It was ratty and dry.
I chose an exclusive salon where I was willing to pay good money for my hair to be looked after. But just like many places these days, you definitely don’t get what you pay for.
