Afsaneh Gh Wicks Reserve connected to Wicks East Nature Reserve, Pavitt Lane and Liverpool Road Retarding Basin, is a hidden gem in The Basin, offering a peaceful bushland setting with rich birdlife and diverse flora. The reserve features picnic shelters, barbecues, a playground, and clean facilities, making it a great spot for a family gathering, especially in the summer. Though dogs need to remain on a lead, the walking trails are perfect for a leisurely stroll, and the surrounding nature reserve adds to the charm with its beautiful wet heathland and grassy forest. Keep an eye out for the rare Swordgrass Brown butterfly and some of Knoxs most threatened plant species. The car park is conveniently located near the BBQ area, and theres a water station to keep both you and your dog hydrated. Just be prepared for a few mosquitoes in Spring and summer!

Rob Solic A terrific little reserve, with a couple of short tracks going off in different directions. Our purpose for the visit was to photograph birds, and while we saw and heard quite a few, I was happy to have found and photographed Brown Tree Frogs for the first time.

Andrew Rowe Can be a bit tricky finding the entry, but for a quick dog walk on a cool overcast day still plenty of people, but quieter than other walking places nearby. BQQ shelter and toilet (of course)

Mei Yew Lovely, shady! The bushwalking club I am member of took the 28 of us up to the Dandenongs from here! What a lively sweaty exercise we got to have! Stretching the old muscles in relaxing ways like this in the environment filled with oxygen and fresh air!! Thank you Melbourne for maintaining this paradise to live in! A coffee van was even ordered to the site to reward us for our hard work!!
