1 /5 BOBO Yeong: I can’t believe a large chain like Angus & Coote could be so lacking in price transparency and appear to take advantage of vulnerable customers. I purchased a Citizen watch from the Emporium branch, where it was listed at $425. The staff told me that “the best price for today only” was $350 and that they couldn’t go any lower. I paid $350, thinking I’d bought a beautiful watch at a fair price.
The following day, I visited another Angus & Coote branch to have the strap adjusted and was shocked to find the exact same watch — identical series and model — priced at only $250 on clearance. The store manager at that branch even stated that prices across all branches should be consistent. Yet the Emporium store displayed it at the full “original” price and presented the $75 reduction as a special offer.
This kind of inconsistency is unacceptable. Prices for the same product should be consistent and transparent across all branches. To make matters worse, even the warranty terms differed between the two stores — highly unprofessional for a national chain. This experience has left me extremely disappointed and questioning how customers can place their trust in this company.
