2 /5 Kiera G: Been going to this gym on and off for 3 years. Equipment is great, it’s really clean and the staff are friendly.
It’s huge value at 13.99 a fortnight, however, this gym has been getting progressively worse for months and months. Although you would expect it to be very busy at peak times (after normal working hours) nearly everyday I visit now (3-5 times a week) you end up queuing for machines. There are people there that will spend 20-30-40 minutes on machines with no regard for other gym users, they’ll sit on their phones for 10 minutes between sets, work in groups and have conversations in between sets that last ages.
It’s clear that management only cares about money, as although the gym is spacious, the sheer volume of people that are signed up has made it a nightmare to work out at and it is heavily overcrowded. Etiquette is non existent, and the gym would really benefit from letting people know at the induction some rules of how to be considerate to other gym users, have signs up about phone use, and length of time on machines during peak hours.
General advice would be to pay the extra $3 a week at Dukes, never overcrowded even during peak hours 4-7pm, equal if not better machines/equipment, and way more experienced gym goers with etiquette and consideration for others. Also way less social media/instagram try hards begging for attention which is always an added bonus when trying to do a quick workout.
