1 /5 Dang: TL;DR: DO NOT GO HERE. My necklace was either stretched significantly during repair or replaced entirely, and the store took zero accountability despite it clearly being longer. When confronted, they escalated the situation by blaming me, insulting me and accusing me of trying to defame them. First 4 photos show the chain before repair, the 5th was taken only 10 minutes after picking it up.
I visited this jeweller twice for repair. The first time, they fixed my bracelet without issue. Because of that, I trusted them with my Tiffany and co necklace that had snapped.
Before leaving it with them, I went to the Tiffany and co store to get a repair quote. While I was there, they also advised my necklace had stretched about 0.6cm over the years (normal wear and tear).
In the end, I dropped off my necklace at St Albans Jewellers on the 18th August and after picking it up on the 25th August, it was 7-8 cm longer than its original size. Naturally, I suspected it had been replaced with a different chain. When I called the store about 20mins after picking it up, they denied it being a different necklace or chain and told me I was “remembering the length wrong.”
I went back to Tiffany & Co for verification (26th August), and they confirmed the chain now looks stretched out (chain links more oval rather than round).
When I confronted the jeweller in person (27th August), the experience was pretty disgusting. They:
• Told me to shut up.
• Insulted me, saying I don’t use my brain.
• Talked over me constantly.
• Yelled at me repeatedly, but told me not to raise my voice when I defended myself.
Both the owner and the guy who "fixed" the chain were extremely rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. I tried to present photos and documentation proving the size difference, yet they refused to listen, accept responsibility, belittled me and tried to make me feel at fault.
If you value your jewellery and want to be treated with respect, avoid this place. Im now paying more to replace the chain as the damage is beyond repair. Do not go here.
