4 /5 Shannon Chen: Bundoora Homestead Art Centre is a wonderful destination that combines art and history. Although the house is not very large, every detail showcases the craftsmanship and aesthetics of the late 19th century. Features such as the wooden staircase, stained glass ceilings, ornate plaster ceiling decorations, and intricately carved railings make this building a cultural heritage site worth appreciating in detail. Additionally, the numerous paintings and artworks leave a lasting impression.
However, it is somewhat regrettable that the maintenance and restoration of this building are not well managed. For example, the balcony railings, which are originally beautiful, have become weathered and have not been repainted in time. The balcony floor also has noticeable bird droppings and dust that have not been cleaned properly. If the building were regularly maintained, repainted, and kept clean, its charm would be even more pronounced. A historic building with such rich details deserves careful upkeep—not only to extend its lifespan but also to allow visitors to fully experience its beauty.
