Harefield Crescent Reserve

Nicholas I think (according to the Internet and similar search results) its named for that area in London called Harefield where the planes also fly sort of low enough near their Heathrow Airport, where-as here however them planes fly heading to/or from in the near distance Tullamarine and then finally onto Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). You can see planes in the distance. Quiet area, apart from large planes every now and then in the sky can be heard or birds hear. Or the sound of wind-breeze or wind-gust. Nice enough to walk past given the local gum trees and other plants, too old for the playground so I dont partake, besides I may use the basketball court in future but anyways, very wide and open space, hopefully no snakes or anything in warmer months. Reminds me of Covid-era walks and so on. Ahh, memories. Anyways.

Black Powder Mill

Shannon Meilak Very interesting. I went on the open day, so I could see inside the building and watch the mill and motor in action. I would highly reccomend going to the next open day and signing up as a member of the Sunshine Historical Society: https://www.sunshinehistoricalsociety.org.au/on-line-membership-form

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

Vab Took my daughter to Sea life aquarium & she absolutely loved it! From the turtles to the playful pengiuns, she was wide-eyed the whole time. The place is super clean and well laid out. Get the pram booking in advance, as they allow only a handful of them inside. It was fun, educational, and perfect for my kid. The fish theatrical was a big hit, and the cafe break was well needed & its location in between was very much thought off by them.

Bulla Hill Miniature Railway

Kate Hayes Could not speak more highly of the Bulla Hill Miniature railway. Perfect place for a kids party or just a day out. Staff are friendly, there is an amazing train themed playground, tickets are super cheap and the views from The railway from Bulla Hill are a spectacular surprise. There seems to be a Sunday market that coincides with the railway opening so you have a range of choices for food and craft stalls. An excellent morning/day out

Kevin Flint Reserve

kareem khattab It is a great place where you want to wind down and have a walk enjoying the scenery, the ducks and people around. If you have a kid, your kid will love the playground there and if you want to unleash your dog there is a special area for that too. It is pretty good.

Cheetham Wetlands

Milan V. If you enjoy relaxing walks or biking, it is a wonderful place. Kids can run around safely and freely. Wide open space. Good for wildlife photography. You will need to bring some water as there are no drinking fountains around if you choose to walk from Altona. I had a day off, and I walked from Brunswick to Altona Meadows. It was a long walk but it was very enjoyable.

More Park

Kristen Nicholls Used to live near here and it’s one of the main things I miss about the area. As a Pokémon GO player, this place is awesome to play. I’d walk here almost daily. Also loved taking photos here. It always felt like a little bit of nature in amongst the suburbs.

Selwyn Park

SS Fantastic park with everything you need. 3 separate playgrounds for all ages. Exercise setup spread across the ground. Tennis courts and a good size field. Nice shared footpaths for bicycles, scooters, jog/walk. Only one pair of writing BBQ. Connected to kororoit creek swimming pool. Well maintained and good level of parking.

Polly Woodside

Gemma Robson Took our 5 and 7 year olds to Pirate Day (3rd Sunday of the month). My son is right into ships at the moment so he loved the opportunity to go on a real one. There was a great balance of activities to fill a couple of hours alongside plenty of opportunities to explore the ship either in a group or at the end when some people started leaving. The pirates were great and kept the children nicely entertained. It was a really fun day out (there was an ice cream stand and ferris wheel nearby while we waited). Activities likely too young for an older child (8/9+).
