Cruickshank Park

sventek This is such a beautiful park with so much greenery and a proper creek flowing through the middle. Its a long skinny park as opposed to a flat square garden type but by no means small. Theres playgrounds, BBQ facilities, picnic benches, walking trails, public toilets, and other unique features like tennis courts and a bike track. Nice walking paths. Free parking available closeby.

Emily Street (Laneway)

Ben Lyon Great example of Melbourne laneway culture. Nice shiny paint. Enjoyed but not long enough.

Hansen Reserve

SS Newly renovated park. Old playground plus new playground. Both are excellent for kids of all ages. The bicycle, roller blades, scooter trail is a great course for kids to really move. BBQ facilities and a decent size oval to kick a footy around. Tennis courts. Ample parking around the area. Definitely one of the best parks on the west side

Footscray Park

RagingGlory I love Footscray Park. It’s huge, vast, quiet, beautiful and I adore that the Maribyrnong River is right there next to you. The loop along the river and against the Racecourse is really fun and a great length, especially for walking dogs. The Racecourse side is essentially “fenced” in the entire way, your dog can just run with you on the path since theyre bordered by the river and the giant wall of the Racecourse. There is one section that is on-leash but most of it you can let your dog off and they can have a splash in the river too. It’s really disappointing that the adventure playground has been dismantled, and a lot of the beautiful paths and lakes have been fenced off for probably 5+ years now. Maribyrnong Council, please speed this up!

Quang Minh Buddhist Temple

Tan T A very peaceful and beautiful Buddhist temple located away from the busy crowd of Melbourne. The moment you go there you can feel that incredible peace inside you. The surrounding and the set up of the temple will have your mind at peace. Coming from a Asian background I could relate the cultural resemblance. Not too crowded during weekdays but heard it’s busy during weekends. Seems like they have small food stalls as well. Plenty of parking if it’s not crowded.
