4 /5 Robert T: Hidden in humble Ringwood is sprawling Jubilee Park. It’s probably best known for its many sports societies and activity hubs because, let’s face it, it doesn’t have much in the way of trees, lakes or walking tracks. It does however, have an aquatic centre (Aquanation), 2 football ovals, a tennis club, cricket club, soccer club and croquet club. For the kiddies it has 2 excellent play areas (with nearby toilets) one being “dog-off-leash”. And for parents that are exercise-inclined, there is a new outdoor gym area (Regina Street play area). There are also relatively clean BBQ facilities (Regina Street). It is also not far from Greenwood Park and Federation Estate with its art gallery. And all within 5 minutes’ drive of Eastland shopping centre. I think the area is under-appreciated and under-utilized. This is partly because it is somewhat fragmented and not located on a main road. Probably the locals are happy about this, but I reckon -- use it or lose it! Get out there – it’s your tax dollars (and municipal rates) at work!
