Karkarook Park - Heatherton (VIC)

4 /5 Pod Gern: A wonderful treasure for Melbourne. Its propagation of rare grasses and flora, once abundant throughout metropolitan Melbourne, is something extraordinary to experience. Extensive tracks for all kinds of exercise surrounded by extensive bushland and wetlands. Great place for children with bikes to feel free and unfettered.

5 /5 Karen Rosauer: A lovely large park, with a big lake with boating, children’s playground and wetlands with many birds. Plenty of covered/shaded and unshaded picnic tables and barbecues. Clean toilets. And an off leash area for dogs. I enjoyed a walk around the lake and wetlands … a little under 2km around the lake. And another kilometer around the wetlands. An enjoyable place to spend the afternoon

5 /5 Shasheeka Samaraweera: Karkarook Park is such a lovely place for an evening walk. The trails by the water are so calming, and the whole area just feels peaceful. If youre lucky, you might catch a gorgeous sunset reflecting off the lake.

5 /5 Patrick Zuluaga: A very nice walking path that is dog friendly. Only issue is the dogs human owners instead of properly disposing of the dog poo that they properly collected and picked up throw these plastics to the side - you really need to wonder about these folks!

4 /5 Bree Rogers: Nice park, which seemed well maintained. A nice spot for picnics and walking. I hadnt been here before and didnt realise it would be largely paved with black asphalt - which was very very hot despite being a relatively mild day. There was some room to walk my dog off to the side of the asphalt however this was mostly sandy, also very hot. Some areas were grassy, and these were quite cool. Hopefully well return when the weather is cooler.
