J Fong The lighthouse is located at the top of a hill. To get there, it is a walk from the car park through a beach before the start of the ascend via a grade 2 or 3 route. The water views along the way with beautiful greens in the background is truly a nice start to the hike. There are no restrictions to heading up and down from the lighthouse but it is still worth considering the path you may find easier. For me, grade 2 option was my choice up and down as it was easier although there are multiple slopes with quite a gradient. It was not difficult to catch a breath partway if the climb is a bit much or if you are not used to it. There is sufficient walking space too for people to overtake or to walk in the opposite direction. Saw folks of all ages - young and old in both directions. Some key tips: - The trees and plants provide a good shade cover when walking up and down regardless of the option grade 2 or 3 track. - During whale migration season, the top is a good viewing spot and there are clear indications of which side of the top you could see it - There are unisex toilet facilities near the lighthouse at the top. They were clean and well maintained when i visited. - There are tours at selected times to the lighthouse. - Good footwear and light clothing is important when hiking up to the lighthouse even when it is sunny and not a hot day. It is a beautiful spot to enjoy the afternoon. I spent bout 2 hours there and enjoyed savouring the views and fresh air. Loved too the variety of birds from kookaburras to lorikeets + many others. Also, a lot of natural sandstone that adds on to the natural beauty of sand, water and the bush. A place worth visiting if you havent been before.

Prakash Bhattarai Barrenjoey Lighthouse, Palm Beach – A Cinematic Paradise Barrenjoey Lighthouse, perched at the tip of Palm Beach in NSW, is one of the most breathtaking spots you’ll ever visit. The walk up is a little steep, but the reward at the top is more than worth it — sweeping panoramic views of the blue Pacific Ocean on one side and the golden stretch of Palm Beach on the other. Sunsets from here are absolutely stunning — the sky lights up in shades of orange, pink, and purple, creating a scene that looks straight out of a movie. If youre into photography or videography, this is a dream location. Every angle offers a perfect shot, whether youre capturing the lighthouse itself, the coastline, or the endless ocean horizon. It’s the kind of place that feels peaceful yet cinematic — ideal for a quiet moment, a romantic visit, or a creative shoot. Whether youre going for a sunrise hike or chasing the golden hour, Barrenjoey is a must-visit gem on Sydneys northern beaches.

brajendra silawat Such a beautiful location. You need to walk 800 m from the car park at palm beach to have some most stunning views of the Pacific and Hawkesbury river together. To watch sunset from up there is recommended.

Darren Strydom Beautiful scenery from the bottom to the top of the trail. Two ways up/down of different difficulties, but both are relatively short walks. Even on sunny days, there is plenty of canopy shade as you climb!

John (The Purpose Coach) Palm Beach Astro Observatory was a bit of a drive from Parramatta, but it was absolutely worth the trip! My wife and I visited to witness the Planet Parade, and while the clouds did limit our view of the stars, we were still treated to an unforgettable experience. The real highlight of the evening was the breathtaking pink skyline just before nightfall—it was one of those moments that make you pause and truly appreciate nature’s beauty. The observatory itself is in a fantastic location, offering a peaceful and scenic setting that makes the journey worthwhile. There was plenty of parking, which made the visit stress-free, and the overall atmosphere was perfect for stargazing. Even though the sky wasn’t as clear as we had hoped, just being there, surrounded by the vast open sky and the gentle sea breeze, was an experience in itself. If youre even remotely interested in astronomy or just looking for a unique, peaceful night out, I highly recommend making the trip. Whether it’s for a special celestial event or just to soak in the stunning views, Palm Beach Astro Observatory is definitely a place worth visiting!

B E Abela Such a wonderful place to go. The different levels give you beautiful views of the beach, and the plants with the verses are so fun to research. Very limited parking in a no through road, and with parked cars along the road - its super tight getting up the hill. Such a serene garden and a slice of peace.

Chris Great photo spot and popular for weddings. Well maintained but very small park area. Pleasant place to sit and read or a small picnic but not much flat space and not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. No parking or amenities.

Lynette Foreman A beautiful serene peaceful place in the middle of all the hustle and bussel . Amazing view from the high vantage point. Small but nice tiered garden . Quiet seating . Pond. Plants well signposted with bible reference to chapter and verse. Beautiful stone work steps and tiers. Free parking for 3 vehicles. I made lunch and rested a few hours there. Not wanting to leave. Wonderful cool breeze on a very hot day. Felt totally refreshed . Felt like a soothing and healing place for the mind.

Elena Arena Hordern Park is not just a beach-front tiny grass. Its a little rainforest up to Florida Rd. Unfortunately it seems abandoned, with vandalized signages and overgrowth vegetation. Still, a small hidden gem

Shez H Where the show Home and Away is filmed it’s also a working surf life saving club. Volunteers run the kiosk which funds the club. Picnic tables are a nice spot to have your snacks and drink. Quiet in the cooler months, summer is busy time of year, you can also see filming usually at the start of the week.
4 /5
Chris Cousins A must do for anyone who has watched Home and Away at any time. Sooooo many clips from the show have been taken here, and if you’re lucky you can often see the cast and crew shooting another scene for the show. AND - it’s a great location! Take a walk along the length of Palm Beach, walk up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse, or have something to eat in Dunes or somewhere else!
