Ben Morgan Having postponed major dental work for almost 20 years through a debilitating, pathological fear of dentistry I assumed if I ever got my teeth fixed it would be under general anaesthetic! I was in constant pain and couldn’t eat anything other than pasta and noodles. Yesterday I had reminence of all my teeth removed at Hawthorn Dental and Implant Centre in the chair with local anaesthetic!! The calming demeanour and professionalism of Dr Steven Mace and office manager Karina made this possible. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If your anxiety over dental work is a major obstacle, I urge you to have a consult with Dr Mace. I’m certain you will have the same experience I had and come away with a sense of calm and excitement for the future.

Toai Trinh Dr. Linda was able to fit me in for a dental emergency involving removing my wisdom tooth that was causing me a lot of pain even though she wasn’t my usual dentist. However, her work as well as her attitude were so impressive and comforting that I may have to move to her permanently! Lana D I have known Madeline for over 10 years. The first time I met her I was looking for a second opinion. She saved me from unnecessary and expensive dental procedures damaging to my teeth. Now all my family are her patients. Madeline is very keen on prevention, and I am very grateful. Otherwise, I would never have the teeth I have today. I am happy to pay more for checking up, cleaning and prevention rather than many times more for treatment later on. Her practice has new exciting equipment. Her new cleaning machine doesn’t use any brushing or unpleasant paste. It uses only water solution. I love my coffee and my teeth do loose their whiteness. However, after her new machine cleaning, my teeth were incredibly white, at least 3-4 shades later without any special treatments.I could not believe it.. The place also offers great skin treatments that can make a trip to a dentist a relaxing and rejuvenating experience in a very friendly and smoothing atmosphere. Highly recommend.

A S Best Dentist. I dont think I can trust anyone else with my teeth. Madeline really loves her profession and loves teeth. She is very detailed and very precise. She is extremely skilled. I have used her services for near 2 decades. Something went wrong from another dentists work in the early days leading to an ambo call. I called her after for urgent help. She knew exactly what to check for and do. I have recommended her to others throughout all these years. There are those who would not go anywhere else even at the inconvenience of travelling far to her.

We called up the number listed on google and were surprised to see that Dr Linda picked up and were able to easily book in for the same week. Rachel Rose I had an implant placed by this company. They ended up having "delays" for the crown to be made and the dentist who placed my implant resigned the next day. I decided to get a second opinion by 2 dental specialist. My implant was placed incorrectly, on an angle rather than in the centre and said this will cause me issues in the future. I was also coming interstate for an appointment and on the day of the appointment after arriving they told me the doctor/dentsit was sick. I asked for a referral because of the issues I was having with this company - it took them 10 days to write me a 2 sentence email with me calling everyday requesting it. Initially they refused to even write the referral because the original dentist I saw had resigned. Extremely unprofessional. Very disappointed with this service. Lets just say, you get what you pay for.

Gen Turner Dr Andrew is definitely the most personable dentist I have ever met! He went above and beyond with his explanations of options for bridging the gap due to a missing tooth (and was in no way pushy, just very informative) and removed some glue Ive had behind my teeth from braces from about 15 years ago (and I have seen many dentists since then, he is the only one to have noticed/ bothered to do that!!). He is extremely kind and bubbly and his supporting staff was also wonderful. I am so happy to have found a great dentist that I can comfortably keep going back to! Verity Dr Caroline and Dr Andrew are absolutely amazing! A long overdue review as I’ve been going to Smile Hawthorn for the past 3 years now and they are the best dental clinic I’ve ever been to. Dr Caroline did such an incredible job with my braces. She listened to my concerns, talked me through the various options, pros and cons, prices, answered my questions, and we settled on a treatment plan. Throughout each appointment Dr Caroline would explain exactly what she was doing, why she would do something, and frequently checked in on me to make sure I was okay. I used to never show my teeth in photos and now I can’t stop smiling in front of the camera! Dr Andrew is so friendly and personable. Like Dr Caroline, he will explain exactly what he’s doing while working and check in with you to make sure you’re okay and if you need a break. I used to be nervous when going to the dentist, but now I always feel so comfortable when I have my check-ups and teeth cleaned. I honestly couldn’t recommend a dentist more highly!

Doonya Rathnabharathie I had an excellent dermatologist I was seeing here initially and the reception had been friendly and assisting which is why I continued to travel an hour to get here. Last time I visited, it was a terrible experience. First, I rescheduled my appointment to a slot only 15 minutes earlier than my initial time as I had meetings scheduled through the day however they were late and I was taken in a whole 20 minutes after my appointment time, beating the purpose of the rescheduling entirely. I was then seen in a rush, no proper care and no thorough check ins as my usual dermatologist does. Extremely disappointing, especially when this 10 minute appointment cost around $300 only for them to refill a prescription. My medicare rebate was also not processed and I had to manually do this through medicare.

Sebastian Hale I have no doubt Ruth is a competent dentist however she has transgressed ethical boundaries with me terribly. After interrogating me on my mental health, and seemingly deciding unilaterally that I was uncompliant with psychiatric medication, Ruth called me a naughty useless thing in a venomous tone. Appalling overeach and bullying.

Nancy Fogg I moved to Australia, from the US. I hadnt been to a dentist for 6 years. Dr. Ruth is compationate, caring, and is a good listener. And, she lets you know when something is going to be uncomfortable, or painful. I trust her, wholeheartedly with my teeth. She is an?? old school? sort of person, and I love that, about her!!

Adrian Lee I saw Dr Newland for a jaw surgery consult, having seen a different surgeon prior. I felt so much more comfortable and at ease. Dr Newland has great attention to detail, he patiently explained the process in detail, best strategy to tackle the surgery, took me through my x-rays, the healing process and recovery time.

Vivienne Lynch Stuart did my wisdom teeth extraction and he was fantastic! Very friendly, thoroughly reviewed my scans to explain my risks in relation to my anatomy, I had plenty of chances to ask questions in clinic and on the day of my surgery, post op care for wisdom teeth extraction was well explained and supplemented by a post operative care sheet. My pain was very well controlled after the surgery. Also Maria (the practice manager) was incredibly helpful - making sure I had all the documentation I needed, answering my questions, very friendly. Donna Deland My experience with Maxfac was excellent. Practice manager Maria helped me quickly prepare for surgery, responding to all my questions promptly and warmly. Stuart Newland’s knowledge, expertise and calm and kind manner meant that what could have been a frightening experience wasn’t at all. Never hurried, Stuart investigates and listens in a way that enables him to treat the whole patient and not just the mouth. Aftercare was above and beyond. I’m 100% happy with the outcome and can thoroughly recommend.

Samantha Riddle Mr Stuart Newland is an exceptional oral surgeon.He is extremely knowledgeable and has the best bedside manner. I felt totally comfortable with how he prepared me for my operation and his post op care was caring and personable. . His office manager Maria is a superstar and so professional in her approach. She was instrumental in getting me booked in for my op with no fuss and exceptional attention to detail and offered alternative suggestions when i was struggling to get my xrays. It was just refreshing to get such good service and good care.

Mikayla Beasley Wisdom Teeth removal Couldn’t recommend this company enough, I had Stuart Newland remove my wisdom teeth and the whole process was seamless. I have a zoom call which we reviewed my scans and we decided on an approach, then booked a date for removal. The removal itself was quick, and recovery was smooth, I had hardly any swelling and was back to work in 2 days. I had pre and post infections (common) however the communication and helpfulness was above and beyond. I couldn’t recommend choosing Maxfac and Dr Newland enough.
