1 /5 Roberta Nelson: I took a sentimental gold plated necklace I had gifted my partner here to have the clasp fixed. The necklace wasn’t originally purchased from here. They proceeded to replace the clasp and the man serving at the time also said he gave it a polish and clean - something I didn’t ask for but was appreciative of.
I took the necklace home and by the time I got there, it had started to turn dark. A bit upset by it, my partner suggested I take it back to see what they say. I went back in a couple of weeks later and they looked at it, acknowledging this time that it was gold plated, not gold (the tag says this and as I hadn’t expected a clean or anything, hadn’t mentioned it initially). They went out back and cleaned it in some morning fresh and it came back up gold again but again, coming home it was black. It seemed that whatever they had polished it with was probably for gold and they had ruined the gold plating for good.
My partner went in next as ultimately we were pretty sad they’d ruined a necklace that was perfect and sentimental to us. And it had been ruined by them doing something we hadn’t asked for. The man was extremely defensive and criticised us for buying gold plated jewellery in the first place rather than saying sorry or acknowledging that something they’d done had ruined the necklace. The conversation went pretty sour and all we are left with now is having to buy a replacement necklace which we won’t be doing through them.
It would have been nice for them to actually acknowledge that they had likely ruined the plating with thinking it was pure gold and to help us in any way they could rather than criticise our choice and leave us with a ruined piece of very sentimental jewellery that we now need to replace. We didn’t expect to go from replacing a clasp to now needing to pay hundreds in a new piece thanks to their misstep.
I wouldn’t recommend them and we wont be buying the replacement from them.
