Hideo Kuze Westerfolds Park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Country of the Wurundjeri Peoples. Discover the urban parklands of Westerfolds Park on the banks of the Yarra River. One of Melbourne’s most popular urban open spaces, that offers over 120 hectares of recreational and environmental parkland perfect for picnicking, cycling, canoeing, jogging and walking. Try some wildlife spotting and birdwatching as you explore the grassy woodlands and the Main Yarra Trail that runs through this park. The Westerfolds Loop Track (4.8km, 1.5 hours circuit) is a gentle walk through the parklands, past the old manor, woodlands and native shrublands. Look out for ancient Red Gums, as well as kangaroos and wombats grazing in the open areas in the early morning.

Manini Dhar Apart from this park being a great place for a picnic day or just some well defined walking tracks, this park boasts of having great chances of seeing a kangaroo particularly if you are visiting Australia for the first time. To add to it, one can access this place via public transport particularly if you reside in Melbourne CBD. Just hop on to 905 bus and after 50 minutes, you can see kangaroos in plenty. This place is also great for birdwatchers. I have been here multiple times and have enjoyed myself thoroughly. There are BBQ points, public toilets and car parking areas too. Dont miss this place if you want to see kangaroos!

Mandy Chan Went there for kangaroos. They come out around 7:30 near sunset. Many kangaroos and bunnies there. Great place to go with kids.

One of the unique attractions is the friendly kangaroos that roam the park, providing a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. The park boasts beautiful walking trails, lush green spaces, and well-maintained picnic areas, making it perfect for a relaxing day outdoors. Whether youre looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll, have a picnic, or simply watch the kangaroos in their natural habitat, Westerfolds Park offers something special for everyone. Highly recommended!

Smriti Jhunjhunwala A lovely park with amazing walking/cycling trails, barbeque and picnic area. The westerfolds loop track is 4.8 km and is easy to walk. There is also a city trail which is 32km long!! A few other smaller trails inside the park are also nice! There are multiple car parks, so do figure out where do you want to start with, we parked at gumtree car park. It took us about an hour to complete it as the path is steep at specific places. We saw several kangaroos at 6 feet distance around gum tree planting program. Def worth the visit…

Ty JACKSON Amazing trail. So close to the city and town yet feels so far away. The tracks are quite good but vary in places between dirt, gravel and cement. Lovely walk winding along the river. A number of nice surprises along the way including a suspension bridge

Chris Mar A great mtb trail network and destination. Easy to get to and fun to ride to the park from surrounding parks as a warm up. The mtb park itself is in good condition all year round and has loads of different trail choices for your mtb level. You can spend a few hours there easily. Just be wary of two way trails or gravel bikes trying their hand at the mtb trails

Rob M Great MTB trails but there are a lot of intersections and no signage anywhere. Favourite trail was the Dentist.
3 /5
Belinda Dealy Lovely wide open spaces, well kept shared pathways that make it easy to cycle with small kids and stop for a picnic anywhere. Great bushy sections along the Yarra to explore and sight see

Mahdi Dehghan Great for a ride or running. Not the best for dogs on warm days specially with very limited access to the river. One water tap and no bins.

Scott Taylor Quite and scenic park. Home to eastern grey kangaroos and native birds. I’ve seen wombats and echidna’s here however this is rare. Swampy area with many frog species. Beautiful bird song. Area accessible by walking track.
5 /5
Pascale Jacq Beautiful tranquil spiritual place alive with wildlife. Accessible for all abilities, seating, shelter and bbq and drinking water available.
5 /5
Jaxson Brookes love this area, very friendly people around and great trails.

Anita Harris With so much parkland in this area, and many trails that meander in all directions, its hard to tell where Tikakara Park begins and ends. But its a lovely park to wander through when enjoying the Mullum Mullum trail or heading towards the Main Yarra Trail. Trails are generally in good condition to walk, run or cycle, and the waterways seem to flow all year round. Some BBQ facilities along the way, but amenities are harder to find. Mullum Mullum reserve has facilities, but if walking towards/along the Main Yarra Trail, public bathrooms are scarce.

suprabha soundararajan A great park. Has spaces for catering to a wide range of ages. Lots of open space to run and play. Also got a public toilet in there, which is great and allows you to stay out for longer. Dogs have to be on leash. A good place to meet locals.

Shash Patel Unusable footpaths because council thinks asphalt walkways are unsuitable and requires upgrading to concrete sidewalks

Eddy John Sng The playground was revamped end 2022 or so, and has new features that appeal to young toddlers to primary school ages. Theres a brand new toilet with 2 cubicles and a wash basin with soap - careful with the tap though cos its super strong! (2024: Theres been some graffiti added, which is a shame, but overall it still looks good.)

Lisa Pieropan Love this open space but hate the new playground they have spend a lot of money redesigning. The old play ground was great for all kids. This one is really only for kids between 1.5- 4 years. The play equipment is designed for really small kids so not great anymore for my 5 year old daughter. Pretty disappointed with the council for not making the playground good enough for all kids. Not sure who designed it. I really hope they come back and add equipment so that more children can use it.

Mark Reed Good area, plenty of room for all even with off lead dogs. Have never had an issue with dogs, only reason I go is so mine can socialize. Playground is good, exercise areas are nice but not used overly much. Only critique is one side of the park is dark at night.
